In November 2018 I was given an open invitation to sketch at Jazz Live at the Crypt and became their official artist in residence until the end of April 2020. It was an intense period of growth, the regular spot at the club got me drawing faster and sharpened up my drawing skills; an example of the work appeared online in a jazz review:

To account for the low lighting I worked with a mid-tone paper and loose mark-making to capture the movement and atmosphere. When sketching live action I often produce ‘composite’ drawings, adding figures over time, which results in some performers appearing several times in one drawing as they move around the scene.
