My painting journey began with surreal art and I have never really left it behind - it affords me of such a rich visual language; I can employ symbolism, carry mood with colour and the expressive qualities of paint, convince the more demanding viewer with a more disciplined approach to composition and proportion, draw upon the history of art, make references to popular culture and respond to current events. Everything an artist needs to take a small rectangle of canvas and make it communicate without using a lot of words.
